Amilcare Porporato is the Thomas J. Wu ’94 Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the High Meadows Environmental Institute at Princeton University. His work focuses on ecohydrology, which examines the interactions between water and ecosystems. He is co-author of the field’s foundational text, “Ecohydrology of Water-Controlled Ecosystems.” Porporato’s expertise includes soil and water sustainability, soil-atmosphere interaction, soil moisture and plant dynamics, and soil biogeochemistry.
