Bess Ward is the William J. Sinclair Professor of Geosciences and the High Meadows Environmental Institute at Princeton University. Her research concerns the marine and global nitrogen cycle, using molecular biological investigations of marine bacteria and bacterial processes. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Geophysical Union, and the American Academy of Microbiology.
