Bio/Description

Michael Celia is the Theodora Shelton Pitney Professor of Environmental Studies, and professor of civil and environmental engineering at Princeton University. He was the Director of the High Meadows Environmental Institute from 2017 to 2021. His research focus includes groundwater hydrology, the sequestration of carbon dioxide and measuring methane leakage from abandoned oil and gas wells. He has been involved with HMEI’s Carbon Mitigation Initiative since its inception in 2000. Celia is a member of the National Academy for Engineering.
